In accordance with Va. Code § 2.2-3708.2, Chapter 1283 of the 2020 Acts of the Virginia General Assembly, and Governor Northam’s Executive Order 51 dated March 12, 2020, the Board of Visitors of the University of Virginia will hold a work session by electronic communication means on Friday, July 31, 2020 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. eastern time to discuss with University leadership the plans for reopening for the 2020-2021 academic year.
An electronic meeting is permitted when the Governor has declared a state of emergency in accordance with Va. Code § 44-147.17, provided that (i) the nature of the declared emergency makes it impracticable or unsafe to assemble in a single location and (ii) the purpose of the meeting is to discuss or transact the business statutorily required or necessary to continue operations and the discharge of its lawful purposes, duties, and responsibilities. The Rector, in consultation with the President of the University, has determined that it would be both impracticable and unsafe to assemble in a single location for this work session.

There will be no opportunity for unscheduled comments from the public during this work session.
