Daniel M. Brody

Daniel M. Brody graduated from the University of Virginia in 1973 with a degree in Economics.  He is the third generation of his family to graduate from the University and his two sons are  the fourth. While a student, Mr. Brody's activities included the Cavalier Daily, the Jefferson Party, and the Inter Fraternity Council.  He was the vice president of the Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity and was a referee for intramural sports.  Mr. Brody earned an MBA from New York University in 1975.

From 1973 to 1987, Mr. Brody worked for his family's department stores.  During his tenure, he designed a retail inventory, point of sale, and billing system that would be adopted by Unisys Corporation for international distribution.  In 1988, Mr. Brody founded Health Data Services, Inc. to provide practice management software and services to small and medium size medical practices. During his business career, he has served on the boards of Insmed Pharmaceuticals, Prolifiq Software, and Plurogen Therapeutics.  He is the Manager of Greenwood Partners, LLC, a real estate investment firm.

Since Mr. Brody moved to Charlottesville in 1988, he has served on the boards of the Charlottesville Learning Center, Congregation Beth Israel, the Charlottesville Albemarle Community Foundation, the Senior Center of Central Virginia.  He was appointed by Governors Allen and Gilmore to the board of the Department of Medical Assistance Services (Medicaid) for two terms and served as its' Chair for four years.

Mr. Brody has also served on various University-related committees and boards including the 2020 Strategic Planning group, EMCERT (Emergency Medicine Committee for Education, Research, and Technology) board and chair, and the Brody Jewish Center – Hillel at the University of Virginia.  He has also twice served as a co-chair for his class reunions.  His wife, Nan, is a long serving board member of the Fralin Art Museum.  More importantly, she has baked over two thousand chocolate chip cookies for the Men's Lacrosse team for its' away games.  Mr. Brody was inducted into the Raven Society in 2023.

Mr. Brody was appointed to the Board of Visitors by Governor Youngkin in 2024.
