Michael C. Bisceglia

Michael C. Bisceglia is the President and Co-Founder of the Stauer Watch and Jewelry Company and Chairman-Elect of the Medical College of Virginia Foundation.

As President and Co-Founder of Stauer Watches and Jewelry, he created and managed the brand, the merchandising, the product designs, the ad plan and the strategic plan this company over the last 23 years. With an extensive background as an entrepreneur, Mr. Bisceglia founded this direct response company using expertise in advertising to sell its proprietary products. Now, the company aggressively markets to its customers with catalogs, emails, direct mail, multiple eCommerce sites and loyalty marketing clubs. Stauer has over 200 employees in the US and has done over $1 billion in sales. Stauer is one of the largest sources for Italian Gold in the USA and is one of the largest gemstone dealers in the country. The company has sold more than 2 million of its Stauer branded watches.

For eight years, he was on the board of Commonwealth Public Broadcasting now called VPM, acting as Chairman for three years and Chair of the Virginia Foundation for Public Media which owns many Virginia PBS and NPR stations. The foundation acts as the producer of a host of documentaries working with the Miller Center, The Center for Politics at UVA and with Ed Ayres at the University of Richmond and Nick Kristof of the New York Times. The foundation that he founded also manages the $190 million endowment.

Mr. Bisceglia served on the Virginia Museum for Fine Art foundation board as well and was the chairman of the investment committee which manages the $300 million endowment.

As of 2020, he is on the Board of Directors of the Medical College of Virginia Foundation where he is chair elect and on the investment committee which manages the $1 billion endowment.

Mr. Bisceglia is a graduate of the University of Virginia, has been married for over 45 years to Maura Bisceglia and has three children – Katie, Patrick and Jack and five grandchildren. Katie is a graduate of UVA and Jack is a graduate of the Law School.

Mr. Bisceglia was appointed to the Board of Visitors by Governor Spanberger in 2026.
