Robert G. Byron is the Chairman, Co-CEO and Co-Founder of Blue Vista Capital Management. He sits on the firm’s Management and Investment Committees and has over 45 years of real estate investment management and transaction experience, having completed over $23 billion in real estate transactions in his career, including over $14 billion of transactions since forming Blue Vista.

Prior to forming Blue Vista, Mr. Byron held the position of Chief Investment Officer for the McShane Corporation, a Chicago-based development and construction company. Prior to that, he led AEW Capital Management’s Investment Banking Group. He has also held senior positions with LaSalle Partners and LaSalle Investment Management (now JLL and LIM, respectively), as well as assisting several Chicago-based real estate entrepreneurs in capitalizing and overseeing their real estate operations. He began his real estate career at VMS Realty Partners, where he served as general counsel and eventually moved to the transaction side of the business. Prior to that, he practiced law in Chicago.

Mr. Byron earned a BA with Honors, from the University of Virginia and a juris doctorate from the University’s School of Law. He currently serves on the University of Virginia’s Board of Visitors, Health System Foundation Board, Affordable Housing Task Force and as the Vice Chairman of the University’s White Ruffin Byron Center for Real Estate. He is a former board member of the University’s Jefferson Scholarship Foundation, Jefferson Trust, UVA Foundation Board, Architecture School Foundation Board, and College of Arts and Sciences Foundation Board. Mr. Byron is also a Trustee of the Urban Land Institute, a Director, Treasurer and Chair of the Investment Committee of the ULI Foundation Board, a member of the Board of Directors of the Posse Foundation, a member of the Thomas Jefferson (Monticello) Foundation Cabinet and the Economic Club of Chicago.  

Mr. Byron was appointed to the Board of Visitors by Governor Spanberger in 2026.
